The American photographer, St Julian Hugh EDWARDS (1838-1903), was based in Amoy (Xiamen) from c.1861. Edwards was considered to be Amoy’s premier commercial photographer and was probably the first photographer in Formosa (Taiwan). His work appeared in several publications, including the Far East.
