U.S. Army Signal Corps
The Photographic Section of the United States Army Signal Corps was established in June 1917, and it was responsible for the U.S. Army’s official ground and aerial photography in the First World War. During the Second World War, including the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945), Signal Corps photographers captured many thousands of images of the work in which U.S. troops, Allied troops, and European civilians were engaged to further the Allied cause. Each Signal Corps camera team selected its best photos and passed them forward to their headquarters.
