Message on the back: "My dear Bob / Xmas greetings to you from the both of us & a hearty shake of the hand. We shall not forget to splice the main-brace to your very good health." To 'splice the main-brace' means to drink a tot of rum or similar spirit. Bob was Cornell Plant's brother Robert. See CP-s109, El01-49, FD-s329 and Pa01-24.
