University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: EB-s0383. This narrow gauge railway line ran from the railway station to the beach. Each flat trolley was pulled by a mule ('1mph engine'). One of the trolleys is flying the Union Jack. Shanhaiguan (Shan-hai-kuan) is now a district of the city of Qinhuangdao.
