Notes

University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: He03-046. Photo from an album (UoB reference He03) kept in the School of Oriental and African Studies Archives, London (SOAS reference PP MS 82/14). Hedgeland provided no caption for this photo. However, a newspaper cutting from the London 'Evening Standard', dated 23 September 1935, pasted next to it in the album, entitled 'River Death Riddle of a Davis Cup Captain' provides the clue that the photo is of Wei Wing-lock (韋榮洛) and his bride. Wei Wing-lock captained the Chinese Davis Cup teams in 1924, 1927 and 1930. He died in New York, September 1935. A fashionable Chinese wedding in the so-called “Foreign style”. See He02-017, He02-018 and He03-047.
