Historical Photographs of China album reference: Hv46. Rev. Claude L. Pickens, Jr.'s trip to northwest China, part 1. Exhibitions: plate 26: ‘The daily lesson of a Moslem boy at a mosque school. The verse from the Koran is written on the shoulder blade of a camel until the student knows his lesson; this verse is then rubbed out and another takes its place.
