University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Hy01-23. Ethel Mary Maitland (née Wilcockson) is wearing an engagement ring and a wedding ring. This print was most probably flipped (the rings should be on her left hand). Ethel was the only child of Herbert and Susan Wilcockson, born on 18 November 1873. She married Edward William Maitland on 10 October 1899 at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Shanghai. The couple had three children: Margaret Amelia Maitland, Alice Eleanor Maitland and Jean Ethel Maitland. Ethel Mary Maitland died on 13 June 1951 in Surrey, England.
