Translation of the caption in Chinese on the back of the print (日寇暴行:于家庄魏修(?)永之妻,大儿被残暴的日寇挑死了,还要挑她的小儿,她伋伋的护着自己的孩子,和敌人拼命挣扎,上首乳部都被刺伤,左手亦被刺透,但她终于逃出虎口,保全了自己的爱儿): 'Atrocities committed by the Japanese: Wei Xiu (?) of Yu Jia Zhuang. The wife of Yong, her eldest son was killed by the brutal Japanese invaders (with bayonets), and they also wanted to kill her youngest son. She tried her best to protect her child, and struggled with the enemy desperately, and her breasts were stabbed, and her left hand was pierced through, but she finally escaped from the tiger's mouth, and saved her beloved son'.
