This image was published in 'Dragon Fangs' by Claire and William Band (George Allen & Unwin, 1947), Plate III, and captioned: 'This is how we crossed the Yung Ting River - in a basket'. 'Dragon Fangs' was republished in USA as 'Two Years with the Chinese Communists' (Yale University Press, 1948). This image was also reproduced in 'Bold Plum' by Hsiao Lindsay (Lulu Press, 2007), on page 121, and captioned: Dangerous crossing of icy Yongding River in basket with ropes, near a Japanese garrison.
