This photograph was published in a pamphlet entitled "Presbyterian Church of England / Some Notes From the Amoy Field" and captioned: "GROUP IN A VILLAGE NEAR UNSIO VISITED WHEN ON A MEDICAL ITINERATION." Itineration in the Wesleyan Methodist tradition is preaching within a circuit. It is likely that Dr Maxwell combined medical and pastoral work.
