University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Mx02-116. Cadbury Research Library archive finding number: DA26/2/2/1 (John Preston Maxwell Papers). This photograph was published in a pamphlet entitled "Presbyterian Church of England / Some Notes From the Amoy Field" and captioned: "GROUP IN A VILLAGE NEAR UNSIO VISITED WHEN ON A MEDICAL ITINERATION." Itineration in the Wesleyan Methodist tradition is preaching within a circuit. It is likely that Dr Maxwell combined medical and pastoral work.
