On the two large sign boards (one placed horizontally along the centre top of the shop and the other placed vertically on the left-hand side, sticking out) are the chacaters: 大清郵政代辦分局 (Postal Agency for the Great Qing Imperial Post Office). On the smaller, rectangular sign board placed on the left side of the main ‘window frame’ opening, is: 本郵政司示 (‘The Postmaster orders’): 官局 重地 (‘Important official bureau’). On the smaller, rectangular sign board placed on the right side of the main ‘window frame’ opening, is: 本郵政司示 (‘The Postmaster orders’): 禁止 喧嘩 (‘Noise prohibited’).
