This is a digital copy of an image on a post card, which has been mounted into the photograph album. The text under the image printed on the post card is as follows: "CHINCHEW : BABY PIT (for Unwanted Children)." Unwanted babies, or the bodies of dead babies whose parents were too poor to bury the deceased baby, could be abandoned at a Baby Pit. See Bo01-096 and Mx01-138.
