The steamer nearest the camera is an old Japanese vessel, the NANTOU MARU which was 935/94, formerly the LADY MITCHELL of Straits S.S. Co. This ship had been built in 1883 for Norddeutscher Lloyd (NDL) as SCHWALBE, was converted in 1887 for tropical service and then became NDL's first feeder vessel between Singapore and Belawan Deli in competition with Holts. She passed to Straits S.S. Co in 1894. Some goods on the quay with 'PLYMOUTH' on the containers. On the left is the Dalian Passenger Terminal - see Bi-s025 and Bi-s026.
