This is a photograph of a scratched photographic portrait, framed in a carved wooden picture frame. The scratched portrait may have been taken in 1857. Frances (Fanny) Amelia Thorburn, neé Hargreaves, married William Thorburn in Lancaster, England, in 1851. William Thorburn was a merchant trading with Blenkin, Rawson & Co. Mrs Thorburn died in May 1858 - see https://www.chinafamilies.net/cemeteries/1260-thorburn-frances-amelia/. See VH01-036 and VH02-179.
