University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: WC01-108.  In the middle of this carefully alinged photograph is an imperial stone tablet (stele), in Emperor Qian Long's calligraphy, recording the rebuilding of the Bell Tower.  The stele has its own built structure around it.
