Soldiers and police during a search for would-be assassins of Yuan Shikai, Beijing

Notes

University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: WC01-220. On page 170 in 'Pictorial Story of the China-Revolution in 1911', a photograph taken nearby on the same occasion, is captioned: "Traffic at 'T Street' [Tung Hua Men] Suspended While Policemen Were Searching for Would-be Assassins, Following the Explosion of the Bomb Thrown at Premier Yuan, Peking". Yuan Shikai (1859-1916). On the right, a policeman. The men in lighter coloured coats are Qing soldiers. A crowd is gathered behind the soldiers - presumably where the search was taking place. See WC01-213.
