Photographing in military earthworks, after fighting

Photographing in military earthworks, after fighting

Notes

University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: BL-n087. Caption on typed list accompanying the box of negatives: '44: Casualties on battlefield. Bodies of men and horses. Photographer can seen.' Digitised from a negative made for a copy print.  A photograph of one human corpse, two dead horses, ordnance, shell boxes, a photographer at work and rough defensive earthworks - seems to be a briefly held fort (or gun placement) between Peking and Tientsin (Boxer Uprising)? See BL-n088 (a crop of BL-n087, showing a photographer).
