University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Ca01-127. No caption in the album for this photograph. Dr Mary Tiffen notes that this is almost certainly the cemetery just below the temple on Temple Hill, Chefoo (Yantai). It could be the tomb of James (Jim) Carrall and his daughter Phyllis, who both died of scarlet fever (scarlatina), Jim on 5th May and Phyllis on 14th May 1902? Coffins were reburied at a new site in December 1955, to make way for a primary school.
