University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: DH-s019. Sketches by Elizabeth (Bessie) L'Evesque Pirkis (1836-1900). As well as the sketches, there is a photographic portrait, at the bottom. Bessie L'Evesque Pirkis, the wife of Albert Pirkis (1840-1885), is three along, four down. Her husband, Albert Pirkis (the accountant at the British Legation), is five along, four down. The man two along, four down, might be Dr Stephen Wootton Bushell.
