Notes
University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Hn03-146. Two photographs, probably of boats, are missing from the album. 'Bumboat' was a name used for flat-bottomed boats transporting cargo between ships in the outer harbour and docks and warehouses on shore. They could be houseboats and a means of earning a living. Note: perhaps oyster shells on the river bank?
