Notes

University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: JS03-27. The Battle of Guilin-Liuzhou (also known as the Battle of Guiliu) lasted from 16 August to 2 December 1944, ending with a Japanese victory. The train carriages appear to have been stationary for a while: bedding airing, laundry drying, food cooking beside the tracks. See JS03-24, JS03-25, JS03-26, JS03-28.
