University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Mx01-022. Cadbury Research Library archive finding number: DA26/2/2/4 (John Preston Maxwell Papers). The locomotive in the shed on the left is British built, by Andrew Barclay of Kilmarnock, Scotland, that on the right a Shay locomotive, built by the Lima Locomotive Co. in the USA. Mt. Ari is Alishan 阿里山, in Jiayi County, southwestern Taiwan.
