T’ien Ling Ssu (Tien-Ning-Szu), now Tianning Temple (天宁寺), is a Buddhist monastery in northwest Beijing. At least some of this party probably arrived by horse, as several are dressed for riding or holding riding crops. ‘Piry’ is probably Théophile Piry (1851-1918).
