The Jiangnan Gongyuan (Examination Institute of Jiangnan, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province) used to be the largest Imperial examination venue during the Ming and Qing dynasties. For second degree exams. During the late Qing, there were up to 20,446 exam cells in use. The imperial examination system was abolished in 1905.
