This photograph by John Thomson was published in his 'Through China with a Camera' (1898) and captioned: 'CHINESE PEDLAR'. The man may be selling sweets. The girl has a shaved forehead and braided hair. The boy on the right is holding her hand. Unidentified location - perhaps Beijing?
