University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: PF01-37. Photograph by John Thomson. In 'Illustrations of China and its People' (1873-1874), vol II, Thomson wrote that this photograph, numbered 63 (see Fr01-109) was taken "about 100 miles above Foochow, and shows the boat in which I descended the river Min for a distance of about 260 miles from its mouth, as far as the city of Yenping". PF01-37 and Fr01-109 are two of several variants of this scene. See the negative (ref: 18804i) at the Wellcome Collection.
