This carte de visite sized print is from an album of photographs collected together by Colonel John Eyles Blundell, documenting his military career. Chang Woo Gow (Zhan Shichai) (1841-1893), "Chang the Chinese Giant", also known as Chang Yu Sing, Chang Tu Sing, Yaou Shan, is said to have been a little over seven feet eight inches (approx. 2.3 metres) tall. Zhan died in Bournemouth, England.
