University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Ep01-157. Words painted on to the door window: ‘[...] H PEPPER [...] / MANUFACTURERS / REPRESENTATIVES’. Marjorie moved during the exposure of this photograph, turning her into a 'ghost'. The traveller's trunks and large wicker trunks have P. & O. labels and NOT WANTED ON VOYAGE labels. On the trunks are laid out eiderdowns (quilts), clothes, hats, books and small boxes. The reason for this is not known.
