University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: JM02-001. This photograph was likely taken in the UK, by a professional photographer. John Montgomery is on the far right. The woman he is looking at across the table is thought to be his wife, Phyllis Amy Harrop (1904-1994). She married John Montgomery on 11 July 1929 in Manchester, England. The couple had one son, born in Shanghai on 23 May 1930, who died in infancy. The couple divorced in July 1933. Harrop escaped from Hong Kong after the Japanese occupation and later wrote ‘Hong Kong Incident’. See https://gwulo.com/node/18130.
