Notes
University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: PF01-04. Photograph by John Thomson. Albert Edmeades Pirkis (1840-1885) and Elizabeth (Bessie) L’Evesque Pirkis (1836-1900) are in a room, which is probably in their home at the British Legation. On the right is an easel with a painting - maybe one Bessie was working on? The Chinese man may be a servant of the Pirkis’ - he is also in PF01-03. On display are Chinese bronzes, scrolls, and porcelain ware.
