University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: PK01-01. HMS Elk (1868-1905), a Royal Navy composite screw loop, was launched in 1868. The ship was on the China Station, c.1870-1875. HMS Elk is known to have been at Hong Kong in November 1874, departing on 2 January 1875; and in Malta in April/May 1875.
