The Chun-Ka-Chie Temple is the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall (陳家祠堂 'Chen jia citang'), also known as the Chen Clan Academy (陳氏書院 'Chen shi shuyuan'). 'A Pictorial Handbook to Canton' (1905) describes it on page 19 as: 'The largest and undoubtedly the finest ancestral temple in Canton'.
