Caption on photograph
A quick shot I took from the rear of a French infantryman referred to in press release as "Colonial troops". 2500 were landed in late August to beef up the local garrison in the French Concession. Boiler utensil on the back suggests this man was a cook. Rifle bleeds off px in upper right.
