Morrison, Ian & Rachel Collection
Rachel Carr Morrison (née Nicoll) (1915-2000), a daughter of George Nicoll (1848-1934), CIM missionary, lived in Chefoo (Yantai) until she was eighteen. She then travelled to Scotland to train for a career. Shortly after she arrived, she met Ian Morrison (1912-2004), who was completing theological training with a view to missionary service in China. They became engaged and after Ian was sent to China by the National Bible Society of Scotland, they married in Chefoo (Yantai), in 1937. The missionary couple worked in China until just before the outbreak of war. Rachel and a son managed to get to Canada for the duration of the Second World War, but Ian was interned by the Japanese. Only a selection of the Ian and Rachel Morrison Collection is currently online. HPC refs: Mo01, Mo02, Mo03, Mo04.
